Shooting it: Golden Autumn

I am uploading some lighting information for another of my past favorite shots of my friend Doris. We have been shooting at Hozukyo, Kyoto. On that day we were a big group of people with my friend Diao taking pictures there. We actually went for the red leaves, but it looked like it’s too late, and we only had this tree behind her as a proper background for our pictures. At that time that was a little disappointment, but looking at it now actually I’m very happy we had that golden leaves!

Strobist info:

Canon 580EXII with a shoot-through Umbrella – Camera Left (Up)
Nikon SB-26 with a shoot-through umbrella – Camera Left (Down)
580EXII Triggered by Pocket Wizard II Plus,

All three Nikon SB-26s are triggered by Optical Slave

Lighting

You can see on the setup shot above, I’m shooting with two lights in shoot-through umbrellas, I am a big fan of Clamshell lighting, and especially at that time I’ve been using it quite a lot, but recently not so often! I like the soft light of that type of lighting, giving the model a nice 3D effect!

I’m using Canon 50D with a Canon EF 135mm f/2.0 L USM lens, which is one of my favorite! Click here to see some more photos I have with that lens to view a set on my Flickr Account! As usual I am triggering my main flash 580EXII with a Pocket Wizard, and all the second flashes is triggered as optical slave. I’m using 580EXII as a main flash and a Nikon SB-26 as a fill light below.

This was the so called Photo Picnic, just get a bunch of friends and go to a nice place, where we have some fun in the nature and by the way also take some photos while enjoying! My and my good friend Diao are the ones who were mainly taking photos there, and I really miss the time we’ve been shooting together with him! The location is in Kyoto, and it was so overcrowded, because it was the middle day of a 3 days holiday in Japan, so we chose this spot where usually just nobody goes so it was very quiet!

The disappointment was that we were actually going to take some photos in the red leaves, but that was all that was left from them~ Anyway I’m pretty happy with that result, and of course the fun time with friends!

Clicking on the photo or the setup shot will direct you to my Flickr Account where you can also see check it out! Any comments and feedback are welcome, I will upload some more setup shots very soon!
