Shooting it: A Downwards Spiral

Here is a shot of my friend Misa, we have been thinking to make some shots with Bubbles for long time, and here they are. The location is in Osaka, Tenma and these stairs are accessible to everyone. It is so difficult to find such locations in Japan outside, and this one is actually so small, so after I visited it for second time after I’ve already taken that photo I was wondering is that actually the same place~?…

Some technical details about the lighting I’ve been using:
Strobist Info:

Canon 580EXII in a 80×60 Softbox- @6 o’clock;
580EXII is triggered by Pocket Wizard II Plus.
Check the setup shot here for details, you can see how basically the location looks like!

So the simple idea was to spread some bubbles and have her in the middle of the spiral, really nothing much to say here. I have an assistant to do the bubbles left of me while I’ve been shooting the photo.

As light, I’m only using one light, a 580EXII in a softbox in front of the girl, you can also see where the available light in this shot is coming by the bright reflections on the bubbles. There were 4 windows on the second floor of the building!

I am shooting with my Canon 50D camera, and maybe the cheapest lens I’ve ever purchased, a Tokina wide zoom lens, basically that was the widest piece of lens I used to had at that time!

Here is the final image of the shoot:

With this model I have some of my favorite shots, including this one, her name is Misa! You can see a set with my photos of her on Flickr here: Misa’s Collection on Flickr
